Consumer Voice has provided comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on the proposed revised requirements for discharge planning for hospitals, critical access hospitals and home health agencies. Consumer Voice commends the proposed rule in that it would make the discharge process more thorough, hold hospitals more accountable for the safety of patients, and better ensure patient involvement. However, we also point out that the proposed rule does not adequately inform individuals of the full scope of their rights related to discharge. In addition, we provide feedback on the conditions of participation for hospitals and specialized providers. Read the full letter here.
