 When will the conference take place? Where is it located?

The 2018 Annual Consumer Voice Conference is will be held October 22-24 at the Crowne Plaza Old Town Alexandria . The hotel is located at 901 N Fairfax St, Alexandria, VA 22314.  Find out more on the hotel's information sheet.

How do I become a member so I can receive a discount on my registration fee?

You can join or renew your membership at the same time you register for the conference. On the conference registration form, choose the member rate and check the box and follow the prompts to join or renew your membership.

How do I register as a group and what is the group rate policy?

Group Discounts

Get the best possible rate for the conference by taking advantage of our group discounts.  Registration will open in early May, so start forming your group today!  Contact us (info@theconsumervoice.org), and we will help you register your group. Your application for discounts must be made prior to registration.

2018 Discounts for Group Conference Registrations:

  • Group of 5 - 9 individuals - $20 discount per person
  • Group of 10 or more individuals - $45 discount per person

Please note the following and see the full group discount policy here:

  • You must apply to receive a group discount prior to registering anyone in your group.
  • The discount code will apply to the current registration rate at the time individuals in your group complete the registration form.
  • Group discounts apply to full conference attendees only.
  • Limit of one discount per person.
  • Group discounts are not available for trade or professional organizations.

How can I reserve a hotel room?

Participants will need to book their own rooms in Consumer Voice’s room block (rather than Consumer Voice booking your room for you).

Do not wait! A block of rooms have been reserved for October 20, 2018 - October 24, 2018. The special room rate will be available until September 18th, or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.  Rooms are available for $189/night.  For reservations, call (877) 317-5752 and refer to the Consumer Voice Annual Conference group or click here to make a reservation online.

What's the closest Metro Station?

The hotel is between Ronald Reagan Airport and Braddock Road Station. Both locations have free shuttles to the hotel. Find Metro Map here

I plan on driving to the conference. Where can I park my car?

Car Parking Available: 

  • Parking is on property- Nightly self parking fee is $24 and Valet parking is $25.

I only want to attend one day of the conference, is that possible?

Yes. One day attendance can be selected on the registration form and costs $275 for Consumer Voice members and $325 for non-members.

What are the post-conference intensives and when will they be held?

Three concurrent post-conference intensives will be offered on Wednesday, October 24 from 9:00am – 12:00pm.   Registration to post-conference intensives is $60.  Intensive topics:

  • Bringing Hand in Hand to Life – A Competency Based Resource for Dementia and Abuse Training
  • Understanding and Addressing Bullying and Other Antagonistic Behaviors among Older Adults
  • Nursing Home Evictions to Inappropriate Settings: Finding Answers

How do I find out more about sponsorship opportunities?

Through the support of sponsors like you, long-term care residents can participate for free, providing them the unique opportunity to share their experiences with others, network with residents and advocates from around the country, and stay informed on the latest policies that will affect their daily lives. Your support also enables us to hold down participant costs, thus helping us bring together citizen advocates and ombudsmen to share advocacy tips and strategies for overcoming barriers and challenges to quality care. And we can bring the voice of the consumer to federal officials, as they talk directly to residents about living in a long-term care facility.

What is the cancellation policy for the conference?

Registration Cancellation Policy: All cancellation requests for registration must be made in writing. A refund, minus a $100.00 processing fee, will be made for each request dated prior to October 15, 2018. No registration refunds will be issued after October 15th. Attendees must cancel their own hotel reservations according to the hotel’s cancellation policy or incur any applicable fees.
