The New Jersey Office of the State Comptroller has filed a sweeping lawsuit against the owners and associates of the Hammonton and Deptford nursing homes after uncovering a multi‑year scheme that diverted tens of millions in Medicaid funds while residents endured severe neglect, including chronic understaffing, dangerous conditions, and multiple incidents of abuse. The Comptroller also announced that Medicaid funding for South Jersey Extended Care in Bridgeton will end on March 13, 2026, following similarly dire findings. These actions mark one of the state’s strongest responses yet to nursing home fraud and exploitation, underscoring OSC’s commitment to protecting vulnerable residents and restoring integrity to the Medicaid program.
