On February 28, 2022, the Biden Administration released a set of proposed reforms to improve safety and quality in nursing homes. One key component is the implementation of a federal minimum or baseline staffing standard. CMS has issued a Request for Information to obtain stakeholder input as it works on establishing staffing standards (see Sec. VIII. Request for Information: Revising the Requirements for LTC Facilities to Establish Mandatory Minimum Staffing Levels, pp.22789).
