In 2025, Consumer Voice will be celebrating 50 years of advocacy for quality long-term care and services! For 50 years, we have been empowering individuals receiving long-term care and their families, supporting caregivers and staff, and promoting best practices in long-term care facilities.
This year, your generous support helped us to:
- Advocate with federal agencies to issue staffing and ownership requirements and improve consumer information available on Care Compare.
- Develop resources and conduct trainings for residents, families, and advocates on the new staffing and ownership regulations.
- Provide expertise and advice to members of Congress seeking to improve care in nursing homes and other long-term care settings, including increasing transparency and accountability of owner and financial information.
- Defend the newly issued nursing home staffing rules from efforts to revoke them by the long-term care industry and in Congress.
- Support and assist residents and family members to participate in national policy advocacy, including speaking at Congressional briefings and on national webinars.
As we head into 2025, the long-term care landscape continues to change. Strong advocacy is needed to promote quality care practices, protect residents’ rights, and counter ongoing attacks on implementing staffing and quality standards. We will be there!
Your generous support will help us continue and expand our efforts to:
- Educate and equip consumers, Ombudsmen, and other advocates about transparency and accountability for nursing home finances and ownership;
- Support and expand our Consumer Advisory Council of individuals receiving long-term care and services to participate in national and state policy activities;
- Advocate for legislation and rules that are responsive to consumers’ needs;
- Ensure that consumer voices are represented in policy discussions and reflected in policy decisions.
