Currently, Congress is negotiating an end-of-the-year deal, and some in Congress are proposing to rescind or delay the minimum staffing rule as part of this deal.

On December 5, 2024, Consumer Voice along with other advocacy organizations sent a letter to Congressional leadership urging them to reject any end of the year deals that would result in the minimum staffing rule in nursing homes being repealed. Rolling back protections for our country’s most vulnerable citizens would have catastrophic effects on residents, their families, and nursing home workers. The letter urges members of Congress to stand with residents and workers by opposing efforts to make nursing homes less safe.
