Consumer Voice sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to oppose the Kentucky HEALTH proposal, a demonstration project under section 1115 of the Social Security Act. The state’s proposals to require low-income Kentuckians to work and to eliminate retroactive coverage would greatly harm family caregivers and in turn, long-term care consumers. The letter outlined that the work requirement would cause many family caregivers to lose health coverage and that eliminating retroactive coverage would deprive family caregivers of needed coverage.
