On November 12, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated their Nursing Home Visitation Guidance. Because of the high rates of vaccination among residents and the new vaccine requirement for staff, as well as the reduced number of new COVID-19 cases each week, visitation is now allowed at all times for all residents, this includes indoor visitation. All visitors must continue to adhere to infection prevention practices.
Read our informational document for main takeaways from the guidance and additional provisions mentioned in the guidance including masking, where visitation occurs, quarantine and transmission based precautions, visitation during an outbreak, testing and vaccination, access to the Long-Term Care Ombudsman and Protection and Advocacy Programs, entry of healthcare workers and other providers of services, and resident outings.
